## The short answer

In the original red-box Slingo model, four completed lines unlock the Banker’s Offer. Deal accepts it; No Deal opens your held box; Spin continues. The opening round has ten spins; if you continue, earned free spins come before optional paid extras. Every paid extra adds its displayed price to your spending.

![An invented decision after £2 has been paid. Deal returns £1.60 for a 40p loss. No Deal opens the held box, with its award unknown here. Buying an 80p extra spin and then taking a £2.20 offer produces a 60p loss on £2.80 spent.](https://howtocasino.uk/illustrations/slingo-deal-or-no-deal-choices-and-cost.png)

Original explanation, not a game screenshot. Assume the Banker’s Offer is unlocked and £2 has already been paid. All cash amounts and the later offer are invented. The branches are alternatives: the earlier offer is not paid when continuing. No probabilities, actual quotes or recommended choice are supplied.

## Which Deal or No Deal game does this explain?

This is Gaming Realms’ original red-box Deal or No Deal Slingo: a selected box sits beside a 5 × 5 grid. Virgin Games calls it Deal or No Deal Slingo; Mecca calls it Slingo Deal or No Deal. The same television theme appears in separate live games, slots and sequels, whose rules should be read separately.

This explanation uses the named Virgin Games and Mecca public descriptions, read on 6 November 2026. Gaming Realms supplies the product identity and three-choice explanation. We also read the complete two-page English rules hosted by Loto-Québec; that foreign reference is identified below and does not establish every current GB setting.

For the separate Blueprint slot, use the [What’s in Your Box guide](https://howtocasino.uk/best-slot/deal-or-no-deal-whats-in-your-box/index.md). The [general Slingo explanation](https://howtocasino.uk/guides/how-to-play-slingo/index.md) covers the number-grid format.

## What happens before the Banker makes an offer?

You start by selecting one of 26 randomly allocated prize boxes. That box is kept aside; the remaining boxes form the grid. The opening sequence has ten spins. Matching a reel number with a box in the column above opens that box and removes its prize from the remaining possibilities.

A Slingo is a completed line of five opened boxes, horizontally, vertically or diagonally. There are twelve possible lines. Each completed line moves the Prize Boost Ladder, which multiplies the remaining prize values. An opened grid box is therefore an eliminated possibility, rather than an immediate payment of that box’s amount.

In this original-game model, a Joker can open a box in its column, while a Super Joker can open one anywhere on the grid. The Devil blocks potential matches. Follow the permitted selection area for the symbol that has landed.

## What do Deal, No Deal and Spin each do?

Four completed Slingos unlock the Banker’s Offer. The supplier describes three distinct actions, also reflected in the GB operator material:

| Choice | What happens in this model | Cash point to keep separate |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Deal | Accept the current Banker’s Offer and settle on that amount. | The offer becomes a return when accepted; it is not a payment already received. |
| No Deal | Open the box you selected at the beginning and collect its applicable prize. | Rejecting the offer and opening the box is a settlement choice. |
| Spin | Continue the round with the grid in its current state. | A separately priced extra spin adds a new charge if purchased. |

No Deal and Spin are separate options here. Reading No Deal as an instruction simply to keep opening boxes, as in the television programme, would miss that distinction.

Virgin says the Banker makes a further offer after each continuing spin, based on the prizes still in play. A later offer is not guaranteed to be higher. Removing a prize changes the remaining possibilities, while a completed Slingo changes the ladder; neither the next result nor its cash effect is established by how close the grid looks.

The public sources do not give a complete Banker pricing formula or the probabilities needed to calculate the value of an individual decision. A visible offer alone cannot establish which choice has the highest expected return.

## When are extra spins free, and when do they cost money?

| Stage | What the published model supplies | Separate purchase? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Opening sequence | Ten spins from the starting round. | Covered by the opening stake. |
| Earned free spins | Spins collected from the game’s Free Spin symbols, used after the opening sequence. | No additional spin purchase for those earned turns. |
| Paid extra spins | Further play on the retained grid after the opening and earned spins. | Yes: the price on the Spin button is deducted from credit. |

Mecca’s public description calls the number of paid extras unlimited. This means its description does not set a fixed numerical allocation; it does not mean the spins are free or promise uninterrupted access. Each accepted quote is another payment. Read the next displayed price instead of treating a previous quote as a fixed tariff.

Virgin and Mecca describe extra spins without Free Spin symbols, so those turns do not create further symbol-awarded spins in the described model.

The game’s earned Free Spin symbol is also separate from a casino promotion. A welcome-offer banner alongside a game description does not make this round free or establish promotional eligibility.

## How can a higher offer still leave a larger loss?

Use a cash ledger. In this invented example, the opening round costs £1 and two paid extras cost 30p and 70p. An earned free spin adds no separate purchase. Total paid is £1 + £0.30 + £0.70 = £2. All amounts below are made up to explain the arithmetic, not actual prices or likely results.

| Entry already accepted | Additional amount paid | Running round cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Opening round | £1.00 | £1.00 |
| Earned free spin | £0.00 | £1.00 |
| First paid extra | £0.30 | £1.30 |
| Second paid extra | £0.70 | £2.00 |

Assume the Banker now offers £1.60. Taking Deal returns £1.60 against £2 paid, leaving a 40p loss. The return is not £1.60 profit: net result means the final credited game award minus all money paid into this round.

If you choose No Deal, the selected box’s actual settled award replaces the offer in that calculation. For illustration, a £3 award would give £1 profit on the £2 spent; a 50p award would give a £1.50 loss. These are conditional arithmetic cases, not a claim that those values appear in the paytable or are equally likely.

Alternatively, suppose you buy another spin for 80p, then accept a new offer of £2.20. Spending becomes £2.80 and the net result is £2.20 − £2.80 = −£0.60. The offer rose by 60p, but continuing cost 80p, so this invented path finishes 20p worse than taking the earlier offer.

> **Count the final settlement once**
>
> The earlier £1.60 offer was not paid when you continued. Do not add it to the later £2.20. Declining the 80p purchase would also keep spending at £2; a quoted price only enters the ledger when accepted.

## What does the full-house ×20 apply to?

Virgin describes a full house as winning the prize in your chosen box multiplied by twenty. The multiplier’s base is the box prize, not simply the starting stake or the total spent on extra spins.

For a unit example only, an unboosted box value of 50p multiplied by 20 would be £10. That is not a verified paytable entry. If a display already shows the fully boosted £10 award, multiplying it by twenty again would count the boost twice. Use the selected help to establish whether a figure shown on screen is a base value or an already boosted amount.

A full-house factor does not by itself establish the overall maximum prize at a given operator. Nor does the existence of the factor provide the chance of completing the grid with another purchased spin.

## Does a published 95% RTP tell you which option to choose?

Mecca publishes 95.00% RTP. The Québec rules attach their RTP statements to specified strategy assumptions, including completing the initial and earned spins and opening the selected box. We have not verified the theoretical model for a current GB account build. These statements do not promise 95p back from a particular £1 round or calculate the expected value of your displayed paid-spin offer.

Our [RTP explanation](https://howtocasino.uk/guides/what-is-slot-rtp/index.md) covers the difference between a long-run model and an individual result. Extra money already spent also remains part of the round’s cost when checking whether a final award produced a profit.

## What should you check in the selected game’s help?

- The exact original red-box title and supplier, rather than a live game, slot or sequel.
- The current ladder, box-prize table, caps and whether displayed amounts already include the ladder multiplier.
- The earned-spin limit and the price of each optional paid continuation.
- What happens when fewer than four Slingos are completed, and the actual choices available at that point.
- The RTP and unfinished-game rules for that operator and version.

The complete current GB in-game paytable, all intermediate ladder values, the settlement below four Slingos and a build identifier were not established by this public-document check. The Québec PDF is a useful original-game reference, rather than a replacement for those missing operator-specific details. Our [guide to reading game rules](https://howtocasino.uk/guides/how-to-read-game-rules/index.md) explains how to check the stake and prize units.

**Sources and the limits of this explanation**

We read Gaming Realms’ product page and its dated 26 March 2021 article, the public Virgin Games, Mecca and Gala descriptions, and both pages of the Loto-Québec PDF on 6 November 2026. The calculation and diagram are our own. No account, game, payment or location-access test was carried out.

The foreign document supports the original twelve-line layout and column-based Joker. It does not establish every current GB setting or supply the full interface paytable.

### Does four Slingos mean four opened boxes?

No. A Slingo is a completed line of five boxes. The Banker threshold is four completed lines, not merely four matched numbers. One final mark can complete more than one line.
