Start with the total cost
The largest number on screen is not always the amount you are about to stake. Look for the total bet and check whether a separate feature changes it. Read any confirmation carefully before committing money.
A paytable may express prizes in coins, credits or multiples of a stake. Establish which unit it uses before interpreting a payout. A 10× prize on a 20p stake is £2 in this simple example; it is not £10.
Understand what counts as a win
- Check whether the game uses fixed lines, ways to win, clusters or a grid.
- Read the rules for wilds, scatters and bonus triggers.
- Check whether consecutive wins, extra spins or optional features have separate conditions.
- Look at the exact game rather than assuming every Megaways or Slingo title works identically.

A developer’s promotional page can describe a family of games or features supplied in several markets. The help file at the licensed operator is the better place to check the configuration you are actually being offered.
