A simple worked example
Suppose a hypothetical £10 bonus requires 5× the bonus amount in qualifying stakes. The target would be £10 × 5 = £50. That is turnover, not £50 of guaranteed losses, and it is not a prediction of how much money you will have left.
The current rule in Great Britain
The Gambling Commission’s changes took effect on 19 January 2026, limiting bonus wagering requirements to ten times. The changes also prohibit promotions that require consumers to play two or more types of gambling product.
A lower multiplier does not make an offer automatically good value. You still need to check the complete conditions and whether you want to accept a bonus at all.
What else to read
- The balance or amount the multiplier applies to.
- Which games qualify and how much each stake contributes.
- Any maximum stake while using the bonus.
- The expiry time and any withdrawal or winnings restrictions.
- Whether you can decline the bonus or cancel it, and what cancellation means for the balance.
Do not increase your spending or continue a session just to finish a requirement. A promotion does not remove the chance of losing your own money.
