Which Le Bandit game does this explain?
This guide covers Hacksaw Gaming’s original Le Bandit, with six reels, five rows and cluster wins. Le Bandit Hold & Win is a separate game with different feature rules. Use the full game name when comparing a result rather than assuming that every similarly named release works the same way.
A cluster win is the ordinary symbol award that starts this sequence. It is different from a Golden Square, which records a position for the Rainbow feature. You do not need a fixed left-to-right payline to create the marks in this cluster-paying game. The payline guide explains how different win systems fit together.
The explanation uses the supplier’s feature rules and public GB operator descriptions. Those pages establish the published mechanics; they do not verify the return setting, controls or version installed in an individual account.
What happens from a cluster win to a Rainbow collection?
| Stage | What the game records or changes | What that does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| 1. A cluster pays | Positions involved in the win receive Golden Squares. | The gold mark is not another cash award by itself. |
| 2. Super Cascades resolve | Winning regular symbols and other regular symbols of the same type clear; replacements can make further wins. | Every removed symbol is not necessarily a new winning position. |
| 3. A Rainbow activates the marks | After the ordinary wins finish, Golden Squares reveal Coins or special symbols. | The Rainbow is not simply a multiplier on the earlier cluster win. |
| 4. Clovers act | Their factors affect adjacent values, including eligible Pot of Gold values. | A local Clover does not automatically multiply the whole board. |
| 5. Pots of Gold collect | They gather visible Coin values and other Pots’ values in their activation order. | A stored intermediate value is not necessarily the final round credit. |
Two processes are running: ordinary symbol wins and the marked-position feature. First let the cascade sequence settle. Then read the Rainbow reveal, any local multipliers and the Pot collection. Combining those stages into one unexplained “multiplier” makes a result harder to check.
Why can symbols disappear without every position turning gold?
Hacksaw’s Super Cascades remove regular paying symbols of the same type as the winning combination, including matching symbols elsewhere on the grid. Golden Squares, however, mark the positions that formed part of a win. Clearing symbols and creating marks are separate rule steps.
For a simple illustration, assume five symbols make a winning cluster and two further matching symbols sit elsewhere without taking part in another win. Seven symbols can be removed, while the winning cluster accounts for five marked positions. This is an invented layout explanation, not a recorded spin or a promise about the next cascade.
When no Rainbow activates the marks in the base-game spin, the marks are not a saved cash balance. That does not cancel the ordinary cluster awards already made during the spin. MrQ’s base-game description says the overlays last until the end of that spin; the free-spin modes below change their persistence.
Clover multipliers: calculate the nearby values first
Coin values are expressed as multiples of the total bet. A Clover supplies a factor for the values next to it; it is not another coin worth the displayed factor. Convert the resulting stake multiples into pounds once.
Suppose the total stake is £0.20. One Coin worth 2× the stake is adjacent to a 3× Clover, while a Coin worth 5× is outside that Clover’s affected area. Assume no other Clover, Pot, later reveal, cap or rounding adjustment affects this simplified stage.
| Value in the illustration | Calculation in stake multiples | Cash equivalent at a £0.20 stake |
|---|---|---|
| The adjacent 2× Coin | 2 × 3 = 6× | 6 × £0.20 = £1.20 |
| The unaffected 5× Coin | 5× | 5 × £0.20 = £1.00 |
| The two illustrated Coin values together | 6 + 5 = 11× | 11 × £0.20 = £2.20 |
Applying 3× to both Coins would instead give (2 + 5) × 3 = 21×, or £4.20. That would incorrectly extend this Clover’s local effect to the unaffected Coin. The right calculation follows the affected positions, not just the largest factor visible on the screen.
The £2.20 is the illustrated Coin subtotal at this stage, not a quoted paytable award, a tested result or the final return of a full Pot sequence. If a result history already shows a final amount in pounds, do not multiply it by the stake again.
What does a Pot of Gold collect?
After the Clovers resolve, Pots of Gold collect the values of visible Coins and other Pots. Hacksaw specifies an activation order from top to bottom, then left to right. Several Pots therefore form a sequence of stored values; they are not independent multipliers that you can freely rearrange.
For a deliberately simplified collection step, assume the values available to one activating Pot are Coins of 6× and 5×, plus another Pot already holding 7×. With no additional modification at that step, the amount it gathers is 6 + 5 + 7 = 18× the stake. At a £0.20 stake, that collected amount corresponds to £3.60.
This is an intermediate collection example. It does not establish the final credit of a full game round, tell you which later values survive or authorise counting the same displayed amount again as a separate payment. A later Pot or reveal can change the state you are following.
Once the last visible Pot has collected, the Golden Squares reactivate for another reveal and the process can continue. This is a repeat within the Rainbow sequence, separate from an FS symbol adding free spins. To check the final money credited, use the settled feature result and round record rather than adding every number shown during the animation.
Do Golden Squares stay after a Rainbow in free spins?
| Feature | Initial natural trigger and allocation | What happens to the marks |
|---|---|---|
| Luck of the Bandit | 3 FS symbols in the base game; 8 free spins. | Marks stay between spins until a Rainbow uses them; activation consumes those marks. |
| All That Glitters Is Gold | 4 FS symbols in the base game; 12 free spins. | Marks stay for the feature even after activation, so a later Rainbow can use them again. |
| Treasure at the End of the Rainbow | 5 FS symbols in the base game; 12 free spins. | Marks remain after activation, and each free spin includes a Rainbow. |
The difference is what survives after use. In Luck of the Bandit, an unactivated mark can carry to a later spin, but that is not the same as a mark that remains after being activated. In the other two features, the retained mark can participate in another Rainbow reveal.
A retained mark also does not fix the same cash value in that position for the rest of the feature. The position remains available for the mechanic; the Coins and special symbols revealed there still determine the result. A guaranteed Rainbow in the third mode guarantees the activation symbol, not a fixed monetary award.
The supplier and Betfred describe the third mode as a five-FS trigger. MrQ’s shorter overview groups the first two modes rather than documenting that third mode in detail. The table follows the named supplier and Betfred features, without treating every operator summary as a complete rules sheet.
There is also a published retrigger discrepancy: the supplier page says three further FS symbols add three spins, while Betfred and MrQ describe four extra spins. We do not present either number as a universal setting. Check your game’s information panel and the credited counter when a retrigger occurs.
Why did the marks not produce the amount I expected?
- The spin produced an ordinary cluster win but no Rainbow to activate the Golden Squares.
- The Rainbow used a set of marks that disappears after activation in that mode.
- A Clover affected neighbouring values rather than every Coin or the earlier cluster payment.
- A Pot displayed a collected intermediate amount before later reveal or collection steps.
- A stake-multiple value was mistaken for a cash amount, or a final cash amount was multiplied again.
These are checks for reading the sequence, not a diagnosis of an unseen result. A full-looking grid, earlier missed Rainbows or a run of low returns does not establish when the next Rainbow will land. The mechanic description does not provide a winning schedule or a way to change the next result.
What should you save if the Rainbow payout looks wrong?
- The exact game title, casino, stake and round reference.
- The bonus name, remaining free spins and marks visible before activation.
- The Rainbow reveal, each Clover’s position and factor, and the values it affected.
- The order and stored values of any Pots of Gold, followed by the final settled feature award.
- The game rules, history entry and any error or payout-limit message.
Ask the operator to explain the specific step that differs: the marked positions, activation, local multiplication, collection or final credit. Our wrong-payout guide explains how to separate an apparent calculation error from a balance adjustment and how to raise a clear complaint.
For choosing where to play in Great Britain, check the actual operator and game listing. A supplier’s licence does not establish that every casino offering its games is authorised for GB customers. The Hacksaw casino guide covers those checks.
Global supplier pages may show paid feature menus. This article explains ordinary spins and natural bonus triggers; those menus do not establish a feature available to GB players. See the bonus-buy guide for the market distinction.
Related questions
Does a Golden Square pay without a Rainbow?
The mark itself is not an extra cash award. A Rainbow activates marked positions for the Coin and special-symbol feature. Ordinary cluster wins from the spin are separate and can still have paid.
Does a Clover multiply every Coin in Le Bandit?
Hacksaw describes a local effect on adjacent values, including eligible Pots of Gold. Follow the affected positions; do not automatically apply the visible factor to all Coins or the whole spin.
Are Golden Squares permanent during all free spins?
No. Luck of the Bandit retains marks until a Rainbow activates them. All That Glitters Is Gold and Treasure at the End of the Rainbow retain the marks after activation for the rest of the feature.
Does this also explain Le Bandit Hold & Win?
No. This is the original six-reel, five-row Le Bandit. Le Bandit Hold & Win is a separate release; use that exact game’s rules for its grid, feature triggers and settlement.
