What does no deposit actually describe?
It describes the condition for obtaining a particular promotional stage. A registration award can be available without adding personal funds, while a second stage on the same page requires both a deposit and spending. The total headline package should not be assumed to be entirely no-deposit.
| Term | What it describes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| No-deposit bonus credit | Promotional credit without a qualifying deposit for that award | Immediate cash withdrawal or absence of wagering |
| No-deposit free spins | A specified allocation of promotional game rounds | A cash award equal to their nominal stakes |
| No-wagering winnings | No additional play-through requirement on the specified winnings | No eligibility, verification or other applicable terms |
| Play-money demo | A demonstration using virtual credits | Real-money winnings or a withdrawable prize |
Demo play and a no-deposit real-money promotion are different products. The Commission describes most play-for-free versions in its affiliate guidance as involving neither a stake nor a prize. Do not treat a demonstration balance as a cash bonus, and do not assume no-deposit bonus gambling avoids the account checks applied to gambling.
The related free-spins guide explains how a specified game and unit stake determine the allocation. A game’s in-round bonus feature is also distinct from a casino’s promotional offer.
How are the award, turnover, winnings and withdrawable balance different?
Use an explicitly invented £5 promotional cash-credit award whose terms require ten times that £5 in eligible stakes. The play-through target is £5 × 10 = £50. It is a turnover target: £50 of qualifying wagers, potentially using successive returns. It is not an instruction to deposit £50 and not a promise to withdraw £50.
| Amount in this hypothetical model | Meaning |
|---|---|
| £5 award | Promotional credit initially allocated |
| £50 target | Total eligible stakes required by the stated ten-times condition |
| Actual game returns | Amounts credited from the gambling outcomes |
| Remaining eligible balance | What may survive after play and applicable conditions |
| Withdrawable amount | What the terms and account checks permit to be withdrawn |
If the promotional balance is exhausted before the target is met, the target does not create replacement credit or a guaranteed future win. If eligible terms are met with £7 remaining, the target is still £50 of stakes, not a £50 award; withdrawal also depends on the other valid conditions and checks.
For a separate invented spin allocation, 20 spins at 10p have £2 of nominal promotional stakes. That does not mean £2 cash is awarded: actual spin returns can be zero or another amount. If winnings carry wagering, the exact terms must identify the base. Do not apply a cash-credit formula to spin winnings without reading that clause.
What is the current GB wagering limit for bonus funds?
The current LCCP 5.1.1 says requirements to play through bonus funds cannot exceed ten times. Its definition concerns the total wagers needed for funds to become withdrawable. The Commission’s updated implementation notice gives 19 January 2026 as the effective date; that date has already passed at this article’s 29 October 2026 check.
A maximum is not a requirement to impose wagering. A promotion may have no further play-through condition on specified winnings. Conversely, “no deposit” alone does not tell you whether wagering applies, which amount is the base, what games count or what deadline applies. Read the complete significant conditions.
An old comparison showing 40x or 65x should not be silently treated as the current rule for a new GB bonus. Check the offer date, service market and operative terms. We do not validate an individual promotion merely because its headline multiplier is ten or less.
Our wagering-requirements explanation covers contribution and calculation issues. Significant terms need to be clear and accessible; an attractive headline does not remove them.
Why should registration spins and deposit offers be read separately?
A dated primary-source example illustrates the problem. Sky Vegas’s public welcome-offer help page, consulted on 29 October 2026, documents registration-spin terms separately from a deposit-and-spend stage. It also contains more than one campaign. A visitor’s page, account eligibility and applicable campaign therefore matter.
The registration terms specify matters such as selected games, expiry and new-customer restrictions across listed group services. The later stage has a separate deposit and cash-spend trigger. Combining the stages into one “all free, no deposit” description would lose the condition that distinguishes them.
This is an explanation of a published document, not a current offer recommendation, an account test or a claim that you qualify. We deliberately do not reproduce a headline reward total that could imply one campaign is available to every reader. The exact terms shown to the eligible customer govern that promotion.
Does a no-deposit bonus mean no verification?
No. In-scope GB remote operators must verify age before allowing gambling with free bets or bonuses as well as personal funds. Identity verification also applies before gambling. An operator may complete some checks electronically; the rule does not mean every customer must always upload the same document.
Eligibility can be narrower than being an adult with a new login. Relevant terms can concern previous accounts, connected brands, location, a household or one-use restrictions. Creating another account is not a legitimate way to make an ineligible person new. Do not describe a group-wide restriction as if it applied only to one brand name.
The identity condition also limits asking for withdrawal information that could reasonably have been requested earlier, while allowing checks required by another legal obligation. That does not ban all later questions or create an instant-withdrawal promise. The identity and withdrawal guides explain those separate issues.
What should you check before treating winnings as withdrawable?
- Identify the exact award and whether a later stage has a separate deposit or spend requirement.
- Read who qualifies, including existing accounts or connected services and any valid one-use restriction.
- Check the eligible game, fixed spin stake, expiry and any activation condition.
- Locate the wagering base, multiplier, eligible stake rules and deadline, if wagering applies.
- Distinguish promotional credit and winnings from personal funds. Do not assume a bonus locks unspent personal deposits.
- Check any stated conversion or award limit, the remaining balance, verification and withdrawal procedure before interpreting the headline.
Bonus wagering must not prevent withdrawal of a remaining personal deposit balance or winnings from personal-funds play, subject to general regulatory obligations. The Commission distinguishes that money from bonus funds and bonus conditions. If a clause appears to lock your own money, preserve the terms and balance records and ask for the applicable explanation. A term’s appearance on a page does not establish its fairness.
For an offer dispute, keep the dated terms, eligibility message, credit record, wagering history and withdrawal correspondence. Use the operator’s complaint process and the relevant independent route when appropriate. A bonus is not assured income or a reason to deposit or continue after a loss. Our bonus-terms guide provides the broader reading framework.
Related questions
Is a no-deposit bonus the same as no wagering?
No. No deposit describes the qualifying deposit condition for the award; no wagering concerns additional play-through on the specified funds or winnings. Neither phrase removes eligibility or verification.
Does ten-times wagering mean I must deposit ten times the bonus?
No. In the stated cash-credit model it is eligible turnover, not a deposit target. A £5 base at 10x means £50 of qualifying stakes; it does not create £50 of cash.
Can no-deposit free spins return nothing?
Yes. An allocation gives specified promotional rounds, not a guaranteed amount of winnings. Actual returns depend on the game outcomes and terms.
Can a casino check my identity for a no-deposit bonus?
Yes. No-deposit gambling does not remove the applicable age and identity requirements. The information needed and the method of checking can vary.
Are all stages of a welcome package no-deposit?
No. A package can include a registration award and another stage with a deposit-and-spend trigger. Read each stage separately.
Does no wagering mean instant withdrawal?
No. It removes the specified further play-through condition, not all valid eligibility, identity and withdrawal checks or the time required to process them.
