Which version does this explain?

This is Gameburger Studios’ original 9 Masks of Fire: five reels, three rows and 20 fixed paylines. Games Global lists it separately from 9 Masks of Fire King Millions and 9 Masks of Fire Land & Win. The 12 Masks of Fire Drums games also have their own rules.

Betano and William Hill publish listings for the original. Those public descriptions identify the game; they do not establish the build or availability in a particular account.

How many masks pay, and how much?

Count the Mask symbols visible on the same spin, wherever they land. They do not need to share a payline. Apply the corresponding multiple to the total spin stake. SNAI’s original-game rules explicitly label this base as total bet; Betano’s GB description publishes the same ladder.

Masks on one spinMask awardAt an illustrative £1 total stake
31× total bet£1
45× total bet£5
515× total bet£15
640× total bet£40
7100× total bet£100
8500× total bet£500
92,000× total bet£2,000

Only the highest qualifying mask count pays. Five masks use the five-mask tier once; the three- and four-mask awards are not added. Mask awards can be paid alongside qualifying line and Free Spin Scatter wins.

Two masks have no mask-scatter award. A diamond wild cannot stand in for a missing mask or Free Spin symbol. The nine-mask figure is the top mask award in this table; it does not establish a cap for a whole spin or bonus round.

Worked example: five masks at a £1 total stake

Use a hypothetical £1 paid spin with five masks visible. The illustrated positions explain the count only: the other cells are placeholders, and no line result is assumed.

Calculate the paid-spin result, assuming no other wins£15 returned − £1 paid stake£14 net profit

Three masks at the same stake return £1. With no other awards, that paid spin breaks even. A paying mask result and a profit therefore describe different things.

The 20 paylines do not divide the mask prize. They make the line stake £1 ÷ 20 = 5p, but the mask table uses the full £1. Our credits and coins explanation covers the units shown in paytables.

What triggers the Free Spin Wheel?

The shield-and-spears Free Spin symbol is separate from the mask. Three Free Spin symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 trigger the wheel and a 1× total-bet scatter payout. Masks alone do not activate it.

The wheel selects one segment containing both a spin allocation and a multiplier. William Hill describes a range of 10–30 spins; PokerStars and Betano describe 2× or 3× multipliers. The free spins retain the triggering spin’s bet and lines.

Those published ranges do not provide the probability of each segment or make every spin-count and multiplier combination available. Read the wheel shown in the exact game for its choices.

Which free-spin wins receive the multiplier?

Award during free spinsWheel multiplier applies?
Qualifying line winYes
Free Spin Scatter cash winYes
Mask scatter prizeNo

The mask ladder stays at its stated value during the feature. In the £1 example, five masks still pay £15 at 3×; the wheel does not turn that mask prize into £45.

To check a free-spin result, multiply eligible line and Free Spin Scatter cash awards, then add the mask prize unchanged. For example, suppose a result has £2 of line wins before the multiplier and the £15 five-mask prize, with no Free Spin Scatter win. At 3×, the return is (£2 × 3) + £15 = £21. The £2 line total is assumed for this calculation, not a quoted paytable entry or tested result.

Do not subtract a fresh £1 paid-spin stake from that individual free-spin return. Any overall feature profit or loss also depends on the paid spin that triggered it and the rest of the round.

What does a retrigger add?

Three more Free Spin symbols on the middle three reels award the original number of free spins again, retaining the original multiplier. The rules describe a repeat of the initial allocation, rather than a new wheel selection.

For arithmetic only, suppose the initial allocation is N spins at a multiplier M. A retrigger adds N spins at M. If four spins remain immediately before that allocation is added, the count becomes 4 + N. The multiplier remains M; it is not doubled.

This explains the accounting without assuming a particular wheel segment, retrigger frequency or length of a real bonus.

How are ordinary line wins different?

Ordinary symbol combinations follow the fixed paylines from the leftmost reel across adjacent reels. The highest eligible combination on each line pays; qualifying wins on different lines are added. The diamond wild can substitute for ordinary symbols.

Line awards use the line stake. At the illustrative £1 total stake, each of the 20 lines costs 5p. A three-bell line paying 5× the line stake returns 25p, matching Betano’s published £1-spin example. That calculation uses a different base from the 15× total-bet five-mask award.

Our payline guide explains why symbols scattered around the grid can form a mask prize without forming an ordinary line win.

What should you check in the game’s information menu?

Match the complete title first, then check the mask ladder, payout units, Free Spin symbol, multiplier exception and retrigger wording. Check the stated RTP and stake options in that exact version if you need them; this guide does not establish an installed GB configuration.

Do nine masks fill the whole grid?

The original grid has 15 positions: five reels with three rows. The nine-mask award counts nine masks on one spin; it does not require all 15 positions to contain masks or a nine-symbol payline.

Does the 3× free-spins multiplier make the top mask prize 6,000×?

No. Mask prizes are excluded from the wheel multiplier. The table’s 2,000× total-bet mask award stays 2,000× during free spins. This is a statement about the mask award, not a cap for all awards combined.
