What makes Speed Baccarat faster?
The name describes the pace of a live baccarat table. Everyone follows the same Player and Banker hands and bets on their outcome. “Player” is the name of one hand; it does not mean you receive private cards or must back that side.
Evolution describes its Speed Baccarat rounds as 27 seconds, compared with 48 seconds for its standard game. It attributes the faster format to face-up dealing and less time displaying results. These are the supplier’s published product timings, not a measurement of a particular Great Britain table or a promise that every round will finish on that schedule.
| Part of the game | Ordinary Evolution Speed Baccarat |
|---|---|
| Card reveal | Cards are dealt face up. |
| Betting deadline | The on-screen timer or betting indicator shows when betting closes. |
| Drawing decisions | Fixed baccarat rules decide whether further cards are dealt. |
| Outcome and payment | Player, Banker or Tie; use this table’s own paytable. |
The practical difference is how soon another betting opportunity arrives. Speed does not give a bet better odds when the cards, drawing rules and payout terms are the same. For the underlying game, see how to play baccarat.
How do you follow a Speed Baccarat round?
- Read the table name, supplier, limits and help screen. Confirm whether it is ordinary Speed Baccarat, a no-commission version or a different game.
- While betting is open, choose a chip value and place it on the intended bet spot. Check the total stake, including any side bets.
- Finish before the betting timer expires. The published Evolution help uses green for open, yellow for nearly closed and red for closed betting. Once time expires, no further bets are accepted.
- Watch the dealer deal the two hands. The rules determine any third cards and the winning total; you have no hit-or-stand decision.
- Check the result and settlement before deciding whether to bet again. A repeat-bet button, where shown, repeats the previous selection; check its amount before using it.
If betting has closed, wait for another round. Seeing cards appear does not create a new chance to bet on that hand. You can also leave the next round unbet while you read the help or check your balance.
What do Player, Banker and Tie pay?
The following is the ordinary Evolution commission model, using a separate £10 bet in each example. Profit excludes your returned stake; total return includes it. It is not the paytable for No Commission Speed Baccarat or Lightning Baccarat.
| Your £10 bet and result | Net profit or loss | Total returned |
|---|---|---|
| Player wins, paying 1:1 | £10 profit | £20 |
| Banker wins, paying 0.95:1 after commission | £9.50 profit | £19.50 |
| Tie wins, paying 8:1 | £80 profit | £90 |
| Player or Banker bet when the result is a Tie | £0 profit: the bet pushes | £10 |
| Losing bet | £10 loss | £0 |
On a winning £10 Banker bet, the 5% commission is £0.50 of the £10 win, leaving £9.50 profit. There is no commission to deduct from a losing Banker bet or a pushed stake. Baccarat commission explains other stake sizes and the difference between profit and return.
Side bets settle under their own conditions. A pair bet, for example, concerns the first two cards of the relevant hand, so that hand can lose the main game while its pair bet wins. Some configurations include optional side bets or Red Envelope enhancements. Check the actual help screen before applying a quoted payout; the word “Speed” alone does not establish those features.
Do the cards and third-card rules change?
The published Evolution rules use eight standard 52-card decks. Aces count as 1, cards 2–9 keep their face value, and tens and picture cards count as 0. Only the final digit of a hand’s total counts: 7 + 9 gives 6. Suits do not decide the main result.
An initial two-card 8 or 9 is a natural: neither hand draws. Without a natural, Player draws on 0–5 and stands on 6–7. Banker’s decision depends on its own total and, when Player draws, the value of Player’s third card. The dealer applies the full third-card table.
| Illustrative cards | What happens |
|---|---|
| Player 4♣ + 4♦ = 8; Banker A♥ + 2♠ = 3 | Player has a natural 8. Neither hand draws, even though Banker has only 3. Player wins. |
| Player A♠ + 3♥ = 4, then draws 8♦; Banker A♦ + 2♣ = 3 | Player finishes on 2. Banker stands on 3 because Player’s third card was an 8. Banker wins. |
| Player 2♥ + 4♠ = 6; Banker A♣ + 4♦ = 5, then draws A♥ | Player stands. Banker must draw and finishes on 6. The result is a Tie. |
These examples work at either pace under the same rules. In the second example, Banker reacts to the value 8 on Player’s third card, not Player’s final total of 2. In the third, a Tie bet would win, while bets on Player or Banker would simply return their stakes.
Which similarly named baccarat games need different rules?
| Name or label | What to distinguish |
|---|---|
| Ordinary Evolution Speed Baccarat | The commission model explained above. |
| No Commission Speed Baccarat | A separate model: most Banker wins pay 1:1, but a Banker win on 6 pays 0.5:1. Do not apply the ordinary 0.95:1 calculation. |
| Lightning Baccarat | A separate multiplier game with a 20% Lightning Fee added to the total bet. “Lightning” is not another name for ordinary Speed Baccarat. |
| Baccarat Squeeze or Control Squeeze | The card-reveal presentation differs. Evolution describes a dealer squeeze in one format and player-controlled revealing in the other. |
| Another supplier’s Speed Baccarat | Read that supplier’s rules. Pragmatic Play’s launch announcement dated 23 March 2020 described a 12-second betting window; it does not establish the timer on an Evolution table today. |
A language label such as “Japanese”, or a table letter such as A or B, is not enough information to select a paytable. Check the supplier and complete game name, then its rules. This guide does not confirm current GB access to any particular language table or lettered stream.
The separate Lightning Baccarat guide explains its fee and multiplier structure. The guide to baccarat squeeze explains why a slower card reveal does not change a card’s value.
How can a faster pace affect session cost?
A faster table can put more money through the game if you bet on more rounds. Total stakes are the sum of every bet placed, including money returned and then bet again. They can be much larger than your starting balance or deposit.
For an illustrative 20-minute session, suppose each bet is £4 on Banker under the ordinary eight-deck, 5% commission rules, with no side bets. Compare 30 bets with 60 bets. These counts are hypothetical choices for the calculation, not measured or promised Speed Baccarat rates. The Banker house edge is about 1.058%, equivalent to about 98.942% theoretical RTP.
| Hypothetical bets in the same 20 minutes | Total stakes | Mathematical expected loss |
|---|---|---|
| 30 bets × £4 | £120 | About £1.27 |
| 60 bets × £4 | £240 | About £2.54 |
Expected loss = total stakes × house edge: £120 × 0.010579 ≈ £1.27 and £240 × 0.010579 ≈ £2.54. This average is not a spending cap or a prediction for one session: actual losses can be much larger, and a session can also finish in profit. The same 30 bets have the same mathematical expectation whether they take 20 minutes or longer.
You do not need to bet on each available round. Decide a spending limit and stopping time before play, and pause if the pace is making you rush. Baccarat odds and payouts explains why a headline RTP cannot describe every bet on the table.
Does Great Britain’s five-second rule set the betting timer?
No. The Gambling Commission’s RTS 14G requires a minimum five seconds from starting a casino game until the next game cycle can begin, excluding slots and peer-to-peer poker. The definition includes resolving the money staked or won and making the next start action available. It is a minimum cycle requirement, not a five-second betting window or a promise about a live table’s duration.
For a Speed Baccarat table, follow its own betting indicator and rules. A supplier’s advertised round time and the regulatory minimum answer different questions; neither tells you the exact number of seconds still available to bet.
What should you check before a first bet?
- The supplier and full table title, including any No Commission, Lightning or Squeeze wording.
- The displayed minimum and maximum stake for the main bet and any side bet.
- The Banker commission or special payout condition, the Tie price, and any extra fee.
- Where the betting timer, total stake and results history appear. Read unfamiliar rules between rounds or without placing a bet.

Related questions
Is Speed Baccarat the same as ordinary baccarat?
In Evolution’s ordinary Speed Baccarat, the standard hand scoring, fixed drawing rules and commission-model main bets remain. The faster face-up deal and shorter result display change the pace. Versions with No Commission, Lightning or other extra wording need their own payout rules.
How long is a round of Speed Baccarat?
Evolution publishes a 27-second round figure, compared with 48 seconds for its standard baccarat game. Treat this as the supplier’s product description, not a measured rate or a guaranteed duration for a particular table.
How much time do you have to place a Speed Baccarat bet?
Use the countdown or betting-status indicator on the table. Evolution’s published help says betting closes when its timer expires. It does not state one universal betting-window length; the full round duration is not the time available to place a bet.
Can you decide whether to draw a third card in Speed Baccarat?
No. The dealer applies fixed baccarat rules. A natural two-card 8 or 9 stops both hands; otherwise the Player and Banker drawing rules decide whether more cards are required. Faster dealing gives you no extra drawing decision.
Does Speed Baccarat pay less or have worse odds?
Pace alone does not change the per-hand odds or payout. Under the ordinary Evolution model, Player pays 1:1, Banker pays 0.95:1 after commission and Tie pays 8:1. Betting on more rounds at the same stake increases total stakes and mathematical expected loss. Check versions with different payout terms separately.
Is No Commission Speed Baccarat the same game?
It is a separate payout model. In Evolution’s no-commission rules, most Banker wins pay 1:1, but a winning Banker total of 6 pays 0.5:1. That differs from deducting 5% from every ordinary winning Banker bet.
