What result does the Buster side bet price?

The relevant event is the dealer exceeding 21 under the applicable drawing rules. Count the dealer’s whole completed hand, including its initial cards and the card that causes the bust. A dealer finishing on 21 has not gone bust; a dealer blackjack is also not a dealer bust.

A game titled Buster Blackjack may contain this wager, while another game, such as All Bets Blackjack RNG, may offer Buster alongside other side bets. The title alone does not establish an identical paytable or dealing procedure.

The general side-bet guide explains the optional extra stake. Buster differs from opening-card wagers such as Perfect Pairs because it needs a dealer outcome, not just the first two player cards.

When is it placed, and what does it add to the cost?

In the named models, Buster accompanies a main blackjack wager and is committed before the deal. It is not a free payout attached to every dealer bust. If the side bet was not accepted on the associated hand, the appearance of a qualifying dealer result does not create it retrospectively.

For an invented £10 main stake plus £1 Buster stake, the initial layout costs £11. A later split, double or insurance adds its own accepted cost. Check the total actually committed, rather than reading the £1 side-chip amount as the price of the whole round.

The main hand still follows its own rules. Your hit or stand decision does not change the Buster paytable, and a dealer bust does not necessarily rescue a main hand that has already busted.

How do you count a dealer’s busted hand?

Constructed completed dealer handTotal and countMeaning
5, 5, 6, 1026 from four cardsFour-card bust; dealer had 16 before drawing the ten
2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 6, 1026 from seven cardsSeven-card bust; not seven additional hits
10, 6, 521 from three cardsNot a bust
Ace + kingTwo-card blackjackNot a dealer bust

These are arithmetic examples, not a suggested card sequence or forecast. The seven-card example reaches 16 after its first six cards, so drawing the final card is consistent with a dealer who draws through 16. Dealer cards that would not legally have been drawn cannot be used to construct a claimed payout.

What does Buster Blackjack pay in the named GB example?

Grosvenor’s public All Bets Blackjack RNG help, read on 30 October 2026, lists the following profit odds. Its general rules describe six decks. This is an undated public rule example, not proof of the latest account edition, current eligibility or every Buster implementation.

Dealer bust card countAdditional player conditionProfit odds£1 side return if this listed award applies alone
3 or 4Ordinary tier2:1£3
5Ordinary tier4:1£5
6Ordinary tier18:1£19

8 or moreOrdinary tier250:1£251
7Player also has blackjack800:1£801
8 or morePlayer also has blackjack2,000:1£2,001

The enhanced rows require both the stated dealer bust and blackjack on the associated player hand: an initial, unsplit two-card ace plus a ten-value card. A three-or-more-card 21 is not that natural, and a player natural alone is not a 2,000:1 result. The same help treats an ace plus a ten-value card after a split as 21, not blackjack; do not use that split result to assume the enhancement.

A 2,000:1 profit award on £1 means £2,000 profit and £1 side stake returned. The 2,000 multiplier is applied to the qualifying side stake, not the total money placed on the table. Exact caps, limits and whether other awards also apply still come from the selected game.

Can Buster still win after the player busts?

Some explicit rule sets keep the Buster wager active after a player bust. The regulator-hosted Nevada Buster Blackjack rules do so, and require the dealer to complete the hand while a Buster wager remains active, even if every player has busted or received blackjack. Those are a named non-GB rules model, not a universal instruction for UK games.

For a past disputed round, the questions are whether the side wager remained active, whether the dealer was required to complete the hand, and which accepted rules version applied. Neither an unfinished dealer total nor an unrelated game’s help establishes a side-bet win or refund.

A player bust and a dealer bust are different events. Keep the main stake lost after a player bust separate from any side return that the applicable continuation rules actually produce.

How do main-hand and side-bet returns combine?

Use invented £10 main + £1 side stakes, £11 outlay, ordinary main wins at 1:1 and qualifying natural blackjack at 3:2. Assume no insurance, split, double, fee, cap or extra award. The first four rows use the named Grosvenor paytable and assume the stated completed dealer result exists.

Assumed completed resultMain returnSide returnWhole-round return and net
Player 19; four-card dealer bust£20£3£23 returned; £12 profit
Player 18; dealer 20£0£0£0 returned; £11 loss
Player 18; dealer 18£10£0£10 returned; £1 loss
Player blackjack; seven-card dealer bust£25£801£826 returned; £815 profit

For a separate continuation example, use the Nevada model, whose four-card bust award is also 2:1. If the player busts but the required completed dealer hand busts with four cards, the main returns £0 and the £1 Buster bet returns £3. The round returns £3 from £11 committed: an £8 loss despite a side-bet win. This example depends on the explicitly stated continuation rule.

A main push likewise does not mean the whole layout breaks even: the third row loses the side stake. Record all returns and subtract the complete outlay once. Our payout explanation uses the same profit-versus-stake distinction.

Why can another Buster table show different payouts?

The Nevada document’s example table pays 1:1 for a three-card bust, 2:1 for four, 6:1 for five, 12:1 for six, 50:1 for seven and 200:1 for eight or more. That is a different schedule from the enhanced-player-blackjack table above. The document explicitly presents it as a paytable example.

The Québec-hosted digital Buster help supplies the enhanced schedule and cash-return examples, but it does not establish UK availability or resolve Grosvenor’s player-bust wording. Do not combine one version’s largest award, another’s ordinary tiers and a third’s continuation rule into an invented game.

A general blackjack RTP shown beside a product is not necessarily the Buster wager’s return. This guide does not give one universal Buster house edge or win frequency: those require the exact deck, dealer, continuation and award model. A high maximum alone does not supply those probabilities.

Is Buster the same as insurance or a blackjack strategy?

Insurance prices dealer blackjack, while Buster prices dealer bust. The cited All Bets help states that insurance does not affect its side bets. Paying for insurance does not itself buy a Buster wager, and a dealer blackjack is not the result Buster is waiting for.

Buster is an extra wager, not a main-hand decision such as double down. A larger potential side payout does not alter the main hand’s drawing rules or establish a way to recover losses. The dealer-rule and basic-strategy guides explain those distinct questions.

What information settles a Buster question?

  • Exact title, rules version and complete side-bet paytable.
  • Accepted side/main stakes and the associated player hand.
  • Dealer’s complete ordered cards, final total and any player-blackjack enhancement.
  • The active-side-bet exception if ordinary dealer play would otherwise stop.
  • Applicable limits, interruption or void terms, and the saved round identifier.

If the public help omits a material exception, request the applicable in-game clause rather than making a new wager to investigate it. Preserve the existing record. The complaint guide explains the next steps for an unresolved payment or settlement dispute.

Related questions

Does Buster Blackjack need the player to go bust?

No. The qualifying event is a dealer bust. Some versions let an active side wager continue after the player busts, but that continuation must be established by the actual rules.

Do I count only the dealer’s hit cards?

Count all cards in the completed dealer hand, including the original two and the bust card. A four-card completed hand is a four-card bust, not a four-hit bust.

Does dealer 21 win Buster?

No dealer-bust award is established by a completed total of 21. The dealer must exceed 21 under the applicable rules.

Can a player blackjack pay 2,000:1 by itself?

No. In the cited enhanced model, that tier also requires a dealer bust with eight or more cards and an accepted Buster side bet on the associated hand.

Is a Buster win always a profitable round?

No. In the explicit continuation example, a £1 side bet returns £3 while a £10 main stake loses. The £11 round returns £3, leaving an £8 loss.

Does the dealer always draw after all players bust?

Some explicit Buster models require it while a side wager remains active. The cited Grosvenor public page leaves that exception unresolved. Check the actual game’s applicable completion clause; do not infer it from a different implementation.
